AR Filters For Social Media

With the loss of live music during the pandemic, musicians were forced to seek new ways of engaging with their fanbase. Having a branded AR filter to showcase tracks and artwork, which listeners could interact with and share, was the perfect solution to creating a buzz surrounding a release, without in-person promotion tactics.

I set about teaching myself both Spark AR (Instagram filter software), Lens Studio (Snapchat) and Effect House (TikTok), as well as basic 3D modelling in Blender, and over the last 4 years (through countless YouTube tutorials and trial and error) I’ve developed a confident capability in creating captivating and polished AR experiences.

The thing I love most about working on filters is the fact it’s logic driven and is also an area where I am allowed a lot of creative freedom, with clients trusting me to pitch and manufacture well thought out and imaginative concepts. It’s also a tool which is constantly evolving and so there is always something new to learn within the software, continuing to challenge me and making it possible to create an array of outcomes including games, audio reactive visuals and immersing the user into fantastical surroundings.
